Flags retired by father-son team. These two gentlemen did a wonderful job showing the G-A Primary kids the different flags through our countries history. They also explained to the children the significance of each color on the flag and why we are to respect our flag.
Well today we killed two birds with one stone... we learned our spelling words and cleaned the top of our desks. The kids had a great time with this activity.
Our first full week in 3rd grade was so much fun. We are getting the routines of the week down and earning money for our good behavior. The kids LOVE shopping on Friday with the money they earned from the student store. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful group of kids!!!! Thank you to all the parents for helping with the spelling words and decodable books this week. I will be sending home your child's DIBELS scores very soon. I can't stress enough the importance of practicing the spelling words every night, their addition/subtraction facts, and reading for at least 20 minutes.
I look forward to the first day of school every year. I love this quote because it is so true. I have to remind myself of this especially on days that I am tired and frustrated. I constantly remind myself that I want to be the kind of teacher I would want my own children to have if given the chance to choose. The following letter I give the parents in my class every year. It is all so true. I did not write it, but it resonates with my heart.
3rd Grade Rocks!!!!!
